Bus Enthusiasts BBQ and Tour 2011
G'day guys,
On behalf of the SEBST as Operations Manager I'd like to gather some feedback regarding a proposed BBQ and Tour for Bus Enthusiasts. Something similar to what the ACT and TAS do. Please read this which is taken from the Expressions of Interest Form which is available from me if you wish to fill it out. Please PM me. The form will be due back by 15 October 2010 so that we can sort out whether there are enough numbers to do this and to organise bookings and etc... if that is the case.
The Special Events Bus Spotting Team (SEBST) are organising and are interested to gather feedback on a proposed BBQ and tour for Bus Enthusiasts, friends, family and anyone else interested in joining in for some fun.
The outline of the day is for a mid morning meet up in Kings Park either by a bus pick around the city or various places around Perth depending where you are. In Kings Park you will get plenty of time to meet new enthusiasts, chat about past experiences and enjoy the scenery along with some food and drink. So we encourage you to bring your family, kids, relatives or friends no matter whether they have an interest in buses or whether they want to come for a bus/coach ride and have some fun. No Smoking or Alcohol will be allowed as there may be people under the age of 18. There will be a display of a few buses from who we hire from depending on the feedback we get from this form as to determine what buses and how many will be on display followed by a ride. You will get to choose what bus or coach from the display for which you want to ride. Decide with friends, family or go separate ways and try different ones. The buses and/or coaches will first circle around Kings Park before making a trip with the attendee’s down to Fremantle via Cottesloe for some photo opportunities and scenery. In Fremantle you will get the chance to have a stretch, walk around for 30mins before returning to either the bus you were on or a different one if you wish to. The buses and/or coaches will then take us through the south of Swan River near Attadale and Applecross before returning down the freeway to Perth. There will be a stop at Barrack St Jetty for those who wish to have a break or would like to alight. If a few buses are out, one of these will return back to depot while the others continue on the journey which will then take us up to Whitemans Park for a tour around the tight roads and a break where you can get off and maybe sit down and relax or take a ride in a tram or train before returning to finish the day with the buses dropping people off at various locations in the Northern suburbs of Perth or in the CBD.
The day which will cost around $25-$40 for an adult and $12-$25 for a child or concession includes bus/coach hire, food and drinks, and the tour around for the day. Drivers who are driving the bus/coach are also invited to join in the BBQ and have a talk with some people, enthusiasts or whoever. These quality drivers will display, drive and guide you around throughout the day.
Where: Kings Park – Fremantle – Perth – Whitemans Park – Morley/Perth
When: To be confirmed but we are looking around the 20th January 2011.
Who is invited? Enthusiasts, Bus/Coach Drivers, Family and Friends
What is happening? A get together for enthusiasts and their families followed by a bus ride around Perth.
Why? To create a greater awareness of bus enthusiasts and to have a great day out as for some people that is often hard to do because of other commitments.
Once I do get forms returned I will forward the information to our Finance Manager and Major Events Organiser to discuss with myself about what will happen.
Many thanks,
SEBST Administration
PS
It will be fun. Please read this PM me for more info. Please also fill in a Expressions of Interest Form.

Am I allowed to wear what I want?
I don't want to be a prick - some things can't be changed however - so would it be deemed "inappropriate" (awful use of the word, I know) if I brought along my hip flask and concealed it inside my Slayer jacket?
I've also noticed in passing that Beckenham isn't mentioned in the itinery!

Yeah wear whatever you want as long as its not offensive. As there maybe people under the age of 18 there. Why would Beckenham be mentioned in the itinery? Do you want to be picked up?
I think I sent you the form anyway so fill it out and return it if your interested.
I'm currently working to see whether these following vehicles could be a option. Any other suggestions?
Merc O303 ex TP1134, Merc O305 ex 419 (Still has working electronic destos!!!), Merc O305G ex 486, ex ADL STA MAN SL200 TC5752.

The current plans for this event has been cancelled and the details have been returned back to planning as we will be working on an even better tour and BBQ.

They're from all over Australia those buses.
The Leyland Atlantean is just an addition to the current lot for the day as their days are numbered. Also BPSWA vintage bus rides may be provided in the afternoon.
