Nope, it's called an agenda - and the people who use the city will never be asked what it is they want....it will always be a sub-standard fuck up caused by egotistical politicians of all levels.

This council really actually believe we are gonna become a vibrant city because we'll have wide footpaths.
I hate the hole and try to avoid it as much as possible already and I'll hate it more so upon completion.
For shit's sake, I keep trying to tell you lefties that your beloved lefty pollies are all lip-service with PT because (just like the righties) they don't really like it, use it or basically understand it. Some do but MOST do not.

The improvement will be that buses will get their own lane, and there getting new shelters? The terrace needs to be upgraded - have you not seen the plans? Its for the better - It wont be like that forever...

Dream on! Buses could quite easily have their own lane without any narrowing. This is Perth - wake yourself up (have a tug or something)

The narrowing is designed to allow more pedestrian through fare from the malls to the future waterfront. Their will be more better shelters, signage, lighting. People are fed up with cars - city's all over the world are being re done to allow better PT and pedestrian activity. Believe me this is for the better you will love the result...

Yep everything they've done has stuffed the city up. It will never be the same and they will realise in the future the mess they've made.

Man are you guys for real? how have they stuffed everything up? Their changing traffic from one way to two way and upgrading the city... William street, barrack street, horseshoe bridge, the esplanade are all two way with William street (northbridge) and barrack street next - this will improve traffic flow. The terrace is being redone to be a propour terrace (why are we complaining when we getting bus lanes and new stops?) - at the moment it is all vehicle movement and not suitable for people - the city is not meant to be through fare for the freeway and this helps stop that. Im sorry but you guys will be realizing the better not COP the bad. Honestly once this, Forrest place, and the two way is done come tell me how bad it is. For this to go through they go through studies and put it up for comment - they have been planning this for a long time. Please tell me how this will be bad, please... (also have a look here to see the actual plan http://www.perth.wa.gov.au/web/Council/Plans-and-Projects/Current-Projects/St-Georges-Terrace-Enhancement/

Twisted Evil Yep, I'm a real man

I have lived in this city my whole life and I have never seen any good come from all these radical changes to the traffic flow.

They are ruining the look and function of the city, the roads are supposed to be there for cars, more road space is needed to get the traffic flow required, not less, and having a section where no buses stop due to lane contraints caused by redesigning the road and footpath, is just plain ludicrous, not to mention making roads 2-way again when they were made 1-way for improved traffic flow. I could go on much more here but I couldnt be stuffed, the changes are occurring whether we want them or not gents!

You hit the nail on the head Joe! They mention they want to make this a more vibrant and pedestrian friendly city. And they think slowing speeds on roads will make traffic flow go better. I don't think so. And for buses it will just take even longer than it does to get out of the city. Seriously there is a reason why we HAD three lanes going in ONE direction. Now we get a enbankment of cars along one section of the road while the otherside stays shit empty. Eventually the City of Perth will kick buses out of the city and you'll eventually have to walk 1km to get to a bus from the CBD. Let alone a bus will have bigger restraints and time wasting when trying to get through the city.

Here we go again...

OK how will it ruin the look of the city when thats what is being re done? Thats what its all about our city is far behind - look at the link I posted if you don't think it will look good.

The traffic flow isn't perfect yet because it hasn't finish yet - give it time and people will adapt (like with the closure of the bridge)

More road space? There trying to get cars OUT of the city!!! and onto public transport surely you want this to! Traffic is being reduces to 40k so it is safer for pedestrians (like the Beaufort street 40k trial)

Buses will stop their once done der! Buses are not getting out of their forever... 2 way is better then 1 way how is it better the other way?

What do you mean when you say they want to make the city more pedestrian friendly then go on to say that reducing the speed wont make it more traffic friendly? Reducing the speed makes it more pedestrian friendly (do you no how many people can be in the city at once? dont forget the foreshore development...)

Why the hell would they kick the buses out of the city when they want cars out and trams and buses in?

Honestly go grow a brain before you talk, research before you talk (like COP did before they did all this, not to mention all the campaigning)

And adx666 if you live in the city why did you not comment to the city when they asked for it?

Longer for buses? WTF! there getting a bus lane to them selves... (and a slower speed makes it eiser for them to pull out)

Another motor mouth "guest" with a BIG keyboard and lil brain (well, dick probably) Laughing

And man, what a 'tard....I'd say by the spelling and grammar, not to mention the "my way or the highway" and "I'm spitting my dummy and taking my bat home" attitude that he'd be about grade 3....possibly 2. Nuh, he's in Kindy still....who are we kidding?

ps It's not funny or smart leaving "in" out of PiTA.

No wonder Perth is the way it is!

Laughing

Check this great announcement out!

Perth CBD bus services - St Georges Tce disruptions
Effective: Immediately, Monday 24 September 2010
Passengers are advised that Transperth is currently experiencing delays on all services in the Perth CBD due to road works being carried out by the City of Perth on St Georges Tce.
These delays are having a flow-on impact to connecting Transperth services.
For more information regarding the St Georges Tce upgrade, please contact the City of Perth by emailing terrace.upgrade@cityofperth.wa.gov.au or calling 1800 657 115.

Now, if I'm mistaken....the PCC are trying to encourage ppl to use PT?
Why would they? They are stuck with the rest of the traffic (oh yeah, I know, there'll be bus lanes in the END - 52 months later in the END that aren't even needed NOW!
LIP SERVICE PEOPLE - this council is not in tune with reality - they don't know what CBD means.....and they are most certainly--let me positively assure you-- seriously upsetting and aggravating the majority who need to use this place.

Good, I say - might be the end of skankffidi - better sooner than later.
